Right Click Interactions in OBIEE 11g Views

Posted by Santosh Kumar Gidadmani on December 25, 2014

You can specify which interactions are available when users right click in a pivot table, table, treemap, or trellis view at runtime. Not all right-click interactions are available for each view type. Developer can specify which right click interactions are available for an analysis. Following are the interactions available when user right click on the data at the run time in the dashboard reports.

Analysis editor->Edit Analysis properties->Interactions

rightclick_1

Run time right click interactions on dashboard reports as shown below.

rightclick_2

Customize the interactions based on the business requirements. If they need only one or few like below

rightclick_3

The report will only show the Sort option when the user right click on the value as below.

rightclick_4

There are additional interactions available for presentation hierarchy columns like expand, collapse etc.

Thanks,

Santosh

OBIEE 11g Sorting

Posted by Santosh Kumar Gidadmani on December 7, 2014

OBIEE 11g Common Sort Functionality

  • Pivot tables always sort each edge from outer to inner layer by default or Pivot table View Sort are always Left to Right by default.
  • Table View Sort are at any column levels.
  • The options that you specify on the Criteria tab serve as the initial sorting state of the analysis. You can modify the sort later when the analysis is used.
  • When you sort items in a hierarchical column, you always sort within the parent. That is, children are never sorted outside of their parent. The children are displayed below the parent in the proper sort order; the parent is not sorted within its children.
  • If you have deselected Sort Columns in the “Analysis Properties dialog: Interactions tab,” you cannot sort a column in a view at run time.

Sort Examples:

1. Table View Sort

sortimage2

Click on any column the report will sort as per that column.

sortimage3

Clicked on Cust City column ascending, the Full Name column data has changed as per Cust City Column.

2. Pivot Table View Sort

sortimage4

If you try to sort on Cust City by descending order as below

sortimage5

The data values on the column Prod Category will not change because it is in the outermost layer.

Clearing Sorts

For sorts that have been applied in the Selected Columns pane, click Clear All Sorts in All Columns.

sortimage6

For sorts that have been applied directly in a pivot table, table, or trellis, right click on any of the column header -> Sort Column -> Clear All Sorts in View.

Thanks,

Santosh
